While voice actor Rob Wiethoff had teased an announcement by Rockstar Games regarding Red Dead Redemption 2 last week, the weekend came and went, and the studio had largely been silent. In a recent video on his channel, one Red Dead Redemption fan asked Wiethoff what happened to the announcement, to which the voice actor responded that it’s still going to happen.

Wiethoff’s response indicates that, whatever the announcement is, a lot of moving parts are involved. The response also indicates that it might not be related to Rockstar Games, as the studio traditionally has a track record for sticking to its schedules when it comes to making major announcements.

“It’s coming. Sorry for the delay,” responded Wiethoff, as caught by Reddit user No_Novel_7799. “Ha! There are a lot of moving parts. We want to get this right. I think it will be clear why once we’re able to say what’s going on. I can assure you, I want to tell you as soon as possible. Ha! I love it. Let’s goooooooo!”

Just last week, Wiethoff had also apologised for his tease having potentially misled some people. During a live stream, Wiethoff said that he doesn’t represent Rockstar Games when it comes to major announcements, and that the studio would make its own announcements without involving him.

“I do have something I’m really excited about, I truly am, and I think you will be too,” he said, continuing that he realised that he might have “possibly misled some people when I announced that I have something to announce that I can’t talk about right now.”

“Just please recognize – and I know that you know this, but let me remind you, I guess – I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games. We all know that, I’m just reminding you I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games. Rockstar Games makes announcements for Rockstar Games, and they don’t use me to do that,” he continued. “So please know that, and again I still think that a lot of you are going to be really excited about this news, absolutely.”

The original tease by Wiethoff – known for his work as the voice of John Marston in Red Dead Redemption 2 – was supposed to happen “definitely before Friday” last week. Along with Wiethoff, Arthur Morgan’s voice actor Roger Clark had also joined in on teasing an announcement. While Clarke’s tease was more subdued, he did indicate on social media that he was aware of the announcement that was being teased by Wiethoff.

At the time, rumours about Wiethoff’s announcement indicated that Rockstar Games might be getting ready to announce Red Dead Redemption 2 getting PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrades. There were also rumours surrounding the open-world game coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally released on PS4 and Xbox One back in 2018, before eventually making its way on to PC in 2019. For more details about the title, check out our review, where we gave the game a score of 10 out of 10, calling it a masterpiece.
