Capcom’s Resident Evil 2, a re-imagined version of the 1998 classic, is playable on the floor of Gamescom 2018. As such, new footage is to be expected, but Dengeki Online has the coolest reveal yet. In a new gameplay video, we get to see Claire Redfield taking on William Birkin, the mutated scientist better known as G. Check out the encounter below.
Sherry Birkin, William’s daughter, is also showcased in some gameplay, but it’s amazing to see how well Capcom has translated the monster for the new generation. He looks appropriately grotesque, sports awesome voice acting, and the stellar animation work makes his movement genuinely disturbing. Claire’s voiced lines sum up the situation pretty well, honestly.
Resident Evil 2 will be releasing on January 25th, 2019 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Developed on the RE Engine, Capcom is insistent that this isn’t a remake so much as a re-imagined version (with some enhanced narrative bits).
