It went without saying that when the remake of Resident Evil 2 was a massive success (the game has sold almost 5 million units in less than a year’s time), that the game’s sequel, Resident Evil 3, was going to get remade in a similar style. It not only seemed inevitable, but could be here as soon as next year.
A YouTuber named Spawn Wave had a video saying he’d heard that the game was actively targeting a launch sometime in 2020. It was just a random YouTube video, but sources at VGC later confirmed they’d heard a lot of the same things, adding some degree of legitimacy to the claim.
We’ve been hearing rumors about the remake of Resident Evil 3 coming sooner than expected since not too long after Resident Evil 2 released. Some people have also been speculating that the upcoming Project Resistance, which takes place in Raccoon City and has had an odd marketing cycle to say the least, could tie into the remake in some fashion. With the game possibly aiming to release in 2020, it also means it’ll be on current hardware almost certainly. We’ll just have to eagerly wait and see what comes next.
