Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard saw 500,000 units shipped since its last reported sales, thus putting the first person horror title at 3 million units shipped worldwide since launch. That’s pretty impressive when you consider it’s been out for less than two weeks. Capcom has not confirmed sell-through numbers yet.
In a baffling turn of events, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter managed to gross $1 billion worldwide. Capcom noted that, “The Resident Evil film series boasts the all-time top box office gross of any film series based on a video game to date.”
BoxOfficeMojo noted that the actual figure was $1.2 billion and that 80 percent of revenue came from territories outside the United States. Despite being one of the higher reviewed entries in the series, the film averaged a 49 rating on Metacritic.
