Resident Evil has been one of Capcom’s most successful franchises for as long as it has been around, and in recent years, it’s grown more successful than ever. Not only have recent entries in the series enjoyed widespread critical acclaim, they’ve also gone on to sell impressive figures over prolonged periods of time. With the upcoming Resident Evil Village, Capcom are hoping not only for that success to continue, but for it to even be topped.

Speaking recently with GamesIndustry, Capcom’s EMEA and UK marketing director Antoine Molant said that Capcom’s primary goal this year is for Resident Evil Village to become the most successful game in the series, not just in terms of sales, but also quality.

“Our main ambition for this year, although there’s so much going on at the same time, is to make sure Resident Evil Village will be the best-performing Resident Evil title, both in terms of quality as well as business,” Molant said.

Capcom have been bullish about the game they have on their hands, going as far as to say that Resident Evil Village may very well be the best survival horror game ever made, while reports have also spoken about the strong sales they are expecting for the game. It remains to be seen whether it lives up to those expectations, but anticipation surrounding the survival horror sequel is certainly very high.

Resident Evil Village launches on May 7 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out the game’s PC requirements through here. Meanwhile, an open beta for the upcoming PvP title Resident Evil Re:Verse (which will be free for everyone who gets Villagewill also kick off in April.
