NPD analyst Mat Piscatella has posted sales data in the US for the month of May, 2021, and the results are impressive for a couple of the newer releases. Resident Evil Village was, of course, the biggest new release of the month, and it was also the best-selling game for the month in the region. Not only did have the best launch month sales for any 2021 game, it has also immediately become the second best-selling game of 2021 in the US so far.
Another major release was Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which has debuted in second place, while Experiment 101 and THQ Nordic’s open world action-RPG Biomutant has debuted in sixteenth place. Interestingly, Days Gone, which recently saw its PC release, re-entered the charts at No. 21, with sales driven by its PC launch.
On the hardware front, the Nintendo Switch was once again the best-selling console of the month in the US, and also remains the best-selling consoles in the US for all of 2021 to date. You can check out more details and the full May 2021 top 20 charts below.
