Your primary means of engaging with enemies in Resident Evil Village is obviously going to be by shooting weapons at them, but it seems like the melee side of combat will be more of a focus here. Guardian against incoming attacks was a thing in Resident Evil 7 as well, but Capcom have said that it’s going to be a more important part of the game in Village. On top of that, Ethan can now also push back enemies to create more room for himself in situations that demand crowd management, which is definitely a new mechanic. No, there’s no suplexes and roundhouse kicks like there were in Resident Evil 4, but melee is still looking like it’ll be emphasized more than it was in RE7.
