After the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella heading DICE LA to work on a new title, the studio has announced a new studio. Based in Vancouver, this studio will be working only on Apex Legends, the company’s popular free to play battle royale title. Since EA’s Vancouver campus is already present, it made sense to open a new studio as per the company when speaking to GamesIndustry.biz.

There are other benefits to being established so close to EA Vancouver. As per head of operations Henry Lee, this can allow other developers to assist Respawn. Currently, the staff is working at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic but this announcement does serve to highlight EA’s focus on Apex Legends for the long-term.

Since a new Titanfall title isn’t currently in development, fans may have to look to the battle royale title for their fix. It’s currently in Season 5: Fortune’s Favor with Loba Andrade introduced as a new Legend and several changes made to King’s Canyon. There’s also a new seasonal quest for players to progress through and a new Battle Pass to grind.
