Housemarque were there for the PS4 launch with a partnership with Sony, bringing the PlayStation exclusive Resogun, and they will be supporting the PS5 with their efforts as well, as has been recently rumoured. At the PS5 games showcase, Sony unveiled their brand new IP, called Returnal.

The gameplay trailer reveals it as a third person shooter (on the surface, at least), but the premise of its narrative is what seems most intriguing. The protagonist, it seems, has been stuck in a constant loop of reliving her death, which happened when she crashed on this strange new planet. Every time she comes back, the planet grows and change, which should bring some interesting opportunities, from the perspective of both gameplay and story. Take a look at the trailer below.

Returnal will be published under the PlayStation Studios label, and will be launching exclusively for PS5. A release date hasn’t yet been confirmed. Housemarque have called Returnal their biggest and most ambitious game yet.
