Hopoo Games’ Risk of Rain 2 was previously pegged to release on Nintendo Switch after a successful early access launch on PC. However, at yesterday’s PAX West show, it surprised everyone by announcing PS4 and Xbox One versions. Even more surprising is that the shooter is now available for all three platforms at $29.99.
Even that wasn’t enough, Risk of Rain 1 is also available for Xbox One at $9.99. You can pick up a bundle containing both games for Xbox One at $34.99. But what makes the sequel differ so much from the original roguelike? For starters, it’s a fully 3D shooter as opposed to a 2D side-scroller.
Risk of Rain 2 also makes use of new Survivors like the Artificer with its spells, the Huntress and her bow, and the MUL-T. Each run contains a number of different items with different min-maxing opportunities. Over 75 items are available and there are some seriously broken builds that players can create. And if that’s not enough, you can play with up to four friends for even more chaos.
