Risk of Rain Returns

Hopoo Games and Gearbox Publishing have announced Risk of Rain Returns, a remake of the first Risk of Rain. Revealed during the second day of Nintendo’s Inside the House of Indies Holiday Event, it’s out in 2023 for Nintendo Switch and PC. Check out the animated trailer below.

The first Risk of Rain launched in 2013 for PC before coming to PS4, PS Vita, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Risk of Rain Returns offers new and “enhanced” survivors, improved visuals, an updated code base and “tons” of new content. Customizable survivor abilities, new monsters, a new mode, fresh items, and more are confirmed.

The gameplay loop will still look familiar to fans of Risk of Rain 2 as the difficulty rises over time. You can still become nigh-unstoppable by collecting and combining abilities. Stay tuned for more details on Risk of Rain Returns shortly. In the meantime, check out our review for the sequel, which is a third-person 3D rogue-like shooter.
