With less than a week to go before Saros takes us to Carcosa, developer Hourmarque has given us a fresh new peek at what it’s going to be throwing at protagonist Arjun as he attempts to uncover what befell his crew.

It’s signature Housemarque, but the new footage (showcased below) highlights some of the flourishes slated to set it apart from the studio’s previous work. While Arjun moves through the area he’s in far too quickly to stop and take in the sights, he does encounter some deadly-looking enemies that are hell-bent on having him eat a few projectiles.

However, Arjun’s trusty power weapon and the new Soltari Shield are used to great effect, and we mean that both figuratively and literally. The battlefield is a symphony of explosions and bullets flying around, and it’s all a visual treat while the gameplay lets you indulge in a power fantasy that could get quite addictive (once you get behind its mechanics, of course).

We’d have liked to see more of the Corruption Bullets everyone’s been talking about in action. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until April 30th to go hands-on (or April 28th, since the Deluxe Edition provides 48 hours of early access). Check out our feature for more details in the meantime.
