Though the last decade or so has been a miserable one for the Silent Hill franchise, series fans have plenty to look forward to in the future, with multiple major upcoming titles having been confirmed to be in development. Of course, the expectation is that there’s more Silent Hill games in development that have yet to be officially announced, and one of those has reared its head once again.
As spotted by Gematsu, Silent Hill: The Short Message has been rated the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee for the PS5. Interestingly, the classification rating is also accompanied by artwork (which you can check out below), along with a short description for the game.
Google-translated from Traditional Chinese, the description reads: “Anita came to an abandoned apartment in order to meet her friend Maya, and somehow woke up to find herself trapped in it. She must escape her own fears and the monsters lurking in the corridors, discover the truth behind the events she’s trapped in, and try to escape before her own trauma consumes her will to survive.”
This isn’t the first time that Silent Hill: The Short Message has emerged, even though the game hasn’t been officially announced by Konami. In September, it was rated in South Korea. According to leaks, it will serve as a playable teaser for the next mainline Silent Hill game- which has, since then, been officially unveiled as Silent Hill f.
A Silent Hill 2 remake is also currently in development at Bloober Team, while No Code and Annapurna Interactive are working on Silent Hill: Townfall. The latter is allegedly the first instalment of an anthology series that will see multiple indie developers working on additional titles.
Konami is currently also recruiting for internal development of multiple games, including Silent Hill projects. Read more on that through here.
