Thanks to a Gamescom hands-on demo, Sega’s Sonic X Shadow Generations has received some more gameplay footage. It offers a closer look at Shadow’s campaign, specifically Kingdom Valley from Sonic ’06. We also see more from the boss fight against Metal Overlord from Sonic Heroes. Check it out below, courtesy of GameSpot.
Kingdom Valley is revamped visually and looks better than ever, but the new Doom Powers mix things up. Shadow has to utilize powers like Doom Spears and Chaos Control to dispose of enemies, while Doom Blast lets you launch enemies to collect rings and open paths.
Metal Overlord is new, featuring voiced dialogue and mechanics using Doom Surf. Shadow will be dodging obstacles, sending projectiles back, and unleashing combos at key cinematic moments as the fight escalates. It will be interesting if further boss fights in the new standalone campaign can top this.
Sonic X Shadow Generations launches on October 25th for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Check out the Collector’s Edition here.
