Splatoon 2’s Winter Splatfest begins on January 2nd, asking players to choose between family or friends. Before that, however, to celebrate the looming launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which will be out in just a matter of hours, the shooter will be holding another Splatfest themed around the highly anticipated crossover fighter.
The Splatfest will begin on December 14th, Nintendo has announced, and players will be siding with either Team Heroes or with Team Villains, both of which are populated by iconic Nintendo characters. The likes of Pit, Mario, Link, Samus, and Donkey Kong represent Team Heroes, while big bads such as Boswer, Ridley, Ganon, and King K. Rool represent Team Villains.
Of the new characters that are being added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s massive roster, Splatoon’s very own Inklings are also included, so it’s a crossover Splatfest that makes sense. Not that Splatoon has ever been too bothered about making sense- it once asked us to choose between spoons and forks.
Though Splatoon 2 will be supported with Splatfests and fixes through 2019, Nintendo has confirmed that its most recent content update was its final one.
NEW SPLATFEST APPROACHING! To celebrate Inklings joining Super #SmashBrosUltimate, we’re celebrating with a special #Splatoon2 #Splatfest! Which group of fighters will you side with? #TeamHeroes or #TeamVillains?
