While it ultimately came and went after launching last June, Nintendo has been busy plugging away at Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2. It’s getting a free update on September 29th that expands Battle Mode in several new ways. For instance, you’ll be able to experience split-screen play with up to four players, which should make for fun local play.
There are also three new stages, each with their own objectives. On Katina, you’ll control platforms and destroy enemies with lasers. Sector X requires destroying asteroids while Venom sees you scanning data modules and escaping the ensuring surge. If that wasn’t enough, up to four players can form a team and participate in online battles.
Of course, if your tastes lean towards something decidedly more retro, Star Fox Adventures is coming to Nintendo GameCube Classics today. Developed by Rare, the spin-off sees Fox McCloud exploring Dinosaur Planet and helping its denizens survive against the tyranny of General Scales. Don’t worry – the usual Arwing stages still remain and there are more than a few surprises in store.
As for Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2, you can check out our review here. We gave it an eight out of ten, praising the visuals and new additions while criticizing the lack of any major gameplay changes.
