Star Wars Zero Company developer Bit Reactor can’t catch a break. Before the game’s launch, most of the studio was furloughed and its future uncertain. After a successful release with over one million sales, a significant portion returned; however, Bespin Bulletin has since spotted several layoffs.
These include senior environment artist Ryan Lopez, though he noted that he wasn’t brought back after being furloughed. Other affected developers include UI engineer Tyler Eichten, QA team member Ryan Mosher and producer Michael Blackard (though he’s “giddy” about returning down the line).
Bit Reactor has yet to reveal the full extent of the layoffs. After most developers returned to the studio, it released Patch 1.2, adding Campaign Modifiers to increase the overall difficulty. Whether it has more in store for the turn-based tactics title remains to be seen, but it hasn’t announced any paid or free DLC.
Stay tuned for more updates and check out our review of Zero Company here. As for other upcoming Star Wars projects from EA, it’s reportedly set to reveal the next Star Wars Jedi title and allegedly greenlit Star Wars Battlefront 3. It’s unknown when development on the latter will begin, but Respawn Entertainment and DICE are apparently at the helm.
