While rumors about Starfield coming to PS5 continue to circulate, Dealabs’ billbil-kun reports that it indeed exists and will launch on April 7th, both digitally and physically.
It will allegedly have a Standard Edition for £49.99 / €44.99 and a Premium Edition for £69.99 / €69.99. Pre-orders reportedly start on either March 17th in the early evening or March 18th, but it’s unknown whether they will go live alongside the game’s official announcement.
Of course, rumors allege that the PS5 version and next expansion will be announced in March. Officially, Bethesda creative director Todd Howard said last week that new details on the title are coming “soonish,” but didn’t explicitly say what would be revealed. He did temper expectations, though, warning fans that they shouldn’t expect a “Starfield 2.0.”
The price is more interesting – if the Standard Edition retails for $49.99 in the United States, then it would mirror Microsoft’s strategy with Avowed. Before launching on PS5, its price permanently dropped from $69.99 to $49.99 – a whopping $20 less. While this may be a way cater to PlayStation players who had to wait years for a port, it may just be the best, most competitive price point.
