Bethesda Game Studios’ biggest update for Starfield yet has left the Steam Beta branch and is available for all players on Xbox Series X/S and PC. It features over 100 fixes and improvements for quests, bugs and invisible creatures but also brings widescreen support for 32:9, 21:9 and 16:10 displays.

The visual improvements are also very impressive. NPCs in the crowd have better eyes and skin, and water reflections are also of higher quality. The shadow changes are perhaps the most noticeable improvement, with improved contact shadows on characters’ skin and clothes, in first-person and the character creation menu.

Several locations have also seen improved lighting, while stars now support sun disk geometry and planetary rings have shadows visible from the surface of a planet. Various fixes are also live for geometry, texture and ghosting issues, flickering on VFX, and more. Check out the full patch notes here for more details.

Bethesda Game Studios plans to start regular updates for the title from February, with new gameplay features planned. Stay tuned for further updates in the meantime.
