State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2 players – or those who have been holding off on playing – take note. Undead Labs has released a new update that optimizes the open world survival title for Xbox Series X/S. Along with faster load times, 60 frames per second gameplay and “up to” 4K resolution, visuals for the world and shadows have been improved.

Experienced players also have another reason to jump in with the new Lethal Difficulty. This makes resources in the open world more scarce, enemies deal more damage, the Blood Plague is more dangerous and Plague Hearts grow at a much faster rate. You’ll also see more Blood Plague “freak” zombies as opposed to the regular ones.

New Achievements tied into Lethal Difficulty have also been added for 100 additional Gamerscore. You could also choose to mix in certain aspects of Lethal Difficulty using the Custom Difficulty if you don’t want an overwhelming level of challenge. On top of all this is the new Stay Frosty Pack which adds more than a dozen items earned from in-game challenges and exploring the world. The pack is free to claim for a limited time.

In the meantime, Undead Labs is also working on State of Decay 3 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Stay tuned for more details on that in the coming months (or years, given that it’s in early pre-production).
