To say that the PlayStation VR2 is floundering would be a bit of an understatement, but Sony has decided to look to the PC space to try and salvage the headset’s situation a little bit. Last month, the company released a PC adapter for the PS VR2 for those who want compatibility with PC games as well as PS5 games, and now, it seems like Steam integration is coming as well.
An app for the PlayStation VR2 has emerged on Steam, according to which the platform will launch natively for the headset in a couple of weeks, on August 6. As per the app’s page on the platform, it will enable you to play PC VR and Steam games on your PlayStation VR2, update your headset and Sense controllers’ firmware via Steam, adjust settings, and more. You will, as you might expect, need the aforementioned PC adapter to be able to use the Steam app on the headset, however.
Last month, reports emerged that Sony had made “deep cuts” to its funding for PS VR2 development, after the device’s failure to gain much traction in the market. Read more on that through here.
