In a comparatively quieter month for game releases in the US over last year, Shift-Up’s Stellar Blade topped sales charts on its debut. Circana’s Matt Piscatella revealed that it was the only new title to rank in the top 20 for the month. Furthermore, it’s the 16th best-selling game year-to-date. Though the developer hasn’t revealed sales numbers, it is considering a PC port and even a sequel.
Helldivers 2 remained second, with dollar sales down by 70 percent compared to March. However, it’s still the best-selling premium-title of 2024 to date. Rare’s Sea of Thieves also performed well following its launch on PlayStation 5. Though it ranked 55th for March, it became the fourth-best selling title for April and ranked third in the PlayStation sales chart.
This follows its successful launch for Premium Edition owners, with the live-service action-adventure title becoming the second-best selling title in the United States as of April 27th, per Circana. Head here for our thoughts on the title.
