Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is out later this (tomorrow for those who pre-purchase on consoles) and there’s a free demo available. Given Team Ninja’s experience on the Nioh series, can one expect any end-game content after finishing the story? While something akin to the Abyss/Depths wasn’t outright confirmed, it seems there will be harder difficulty levels to tackle.

Speaking to WCCF Tech, the developer said, “Once you’ve completed the game, you’ll be able to take on the harder difficulty levels and you’ll also unlock higher levels for Jobs, other things that you can develop your character with, and then be able to go out and get stronger weapons, stronger equipment, which will allow you to take on those harder difficulties as levels. There are those elements for after the game has been completed.”

This sounds somewhat akin to how Nioh handled New Game Plus with each new “Way of” difficulty adding new elements on top of tougher enemies and an increased level cap.

As for the three upcoming DLC, they’ll feature new story content along with “sort of perhaps new Dungeons and then new things to fight, new things to explore. We’re looking at new Jobs, which also means new weapons, new types of weapons, but also we’re looking at adding new actions to existing jobs, for example, so I think there’s lots to look forward to in the DLCs.”

It’s worth noting that none of the DLC – namely Trials of the Dragon King, Wanderer of the Rift, and Different Future – can be purchased outside of the Season Pass. The Season Pass also currently can’t be purchased separately – you need to pick up the Digital Deluxe Edition or wait until a currently-unspecified date.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin releases on March 18th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. Though the same family of consoles can play with each other, cross-platform play isn’t supported at launch and seemingly won’t be coming later.
