Survey Shows More Interest In Netflix-Style Game Streaming Over Stadia’s Model

Potentially bad news for Google and Microsoft.

While some people are pretty excited for the streaming future of the industry, with its potential to reach whole new player bases and the new possibilities it can open up, not everyone is as enthused. And if this new survey is any indication of anything, there may be quite a lot of people not digging the idea.

In the second half of a survey from Broadband Genie and Eurogamer, while there was interest in game based streaming, it was not at all to the style that Google Stadia has shown. 74% said they wanted a service more in line with Netflix, where they pay a single fee to get access to a full library. Another blow? A whopping 86% said they expected games purchased in cloud based stores to be cheaper than physical, which we also know Stadia won’t do.

This, coupled with another survey showing little interest in Stadia or xCloud, doesn’t paint a rosy picture. Of course, considering how new this technology actually is, it could be just a difference of people not knowing what they want until it’s here. Only time will tell.
