Survival horror fans are going to be plenty busy in the months ahead, with a number of major titles coming out that are looking enticing in all the right ways, from Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space to The Last of Us Part 1 and more. Another game that’s caught the eye of many and has only looked better and better with each new showing is Striking Distance Studios’ The Callisto Protocol.

Glen Schofield, director of the game and studio head at Striking Distance, recently revealed new details about the game in an interview with IGN (which you can view below). One of the things he touched on is the game’s design and structure, explaining that even though The Callisto Protocol is going to be a linear game, it will still offer plenty of optional content and room for exploration.

“It’s kind of linear, but then we went back and we added beta paths for exploration. And we added a lot. You don’t have to do them if you don’t want, but there is a lot of hidden stuff in the game. You’ll learn more about the story. I do want you going, ‘Oh shoot, I was here. I gotta find my way back and get back.'”

The Callisto Protocol is due out on December 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, though it doesn’t look like the game will offer any cross-gen upgrade paths where its pricing is concerned. Make sure to check out its latest gleefully gory gameplay demonstration through here.
