SNK has dropped a new character trailer for The King of Fighters 15, confirming Athena Asamiya as a playable fighter and part of Team Super Heroine with Mai Shiranui and Yuri Sakazaki. Originally debuting in the developer’s Psycho Soldier series, Asamiya joined the roster in The King of Fighters ’94, utilizing psychic abilities to control the flow of battle. Not that her martial arts is lacking though – Asamiya is capable of utilizing quick strikes and knocking foes back to create some room. This allows for launching psychic projectiles and playing keep away. If that wasn’t enough, her Super move allows for launching a giant Spirit Bomb-like attack to decimate her opponent.
Athena Asamiya is the 26th fighter announced for The King of Fighters 15. While a final number for the roster hasn’t been given, it could very well go up to 50 fighters based on the current weekly schedule of announcements. The King of Fighters 15 releases in Q1 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more expectations to be shattered in the coming months.
