Sony clearly has big plans for expanding its properties into other media as well, with several TV shows and movies based on its PlayStation franchises currently in development. An Uncharted film is coming soon, and an HBO series based on The Last of Us is also in the works, while Twisted Metal series is also underway- and that, it seems, is just the beginning.

Speaking recently at CES 2021 (where Sony made a lot of big announcements about planned launch windows of upcoming PS5 games), PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said that the currently announced upcoming PlayStation adaptations are a sign of things to come.

“This is just the beginning of the expansion of our storytelling into new media and even wider audiences,” Ryan said. “Sony is a creative entertainment company and entertainment has never been more important.”

Recently, PlayStation Productions chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra made similar statements, and confirmed that Sony is currently working on seven TV shows and three films based on PlayStation properties. Read more on that through here.
