the last of us part 2

We are now in the final stretch of days leading up to the long-anticipated release of The Last of Us Part 2, and to help tide us over until that day finally arrives, in a new State of Play broadcast, Naughty Dog and Sony dove into the action adventure title to give us a deep look into its gameplay, its systems, and many of its improvements over the first game.

With creative director Neil Druckmann’s commentary, the deep dive explained various aspects of the game in detail, including the narrative setup that will kick off the game’ story, its combat, the stealth, progression, and much more. Much of what was shown are things that have been revealed or spoken of before, but plenty of interesting new details were also revealed, such as improvements to stealth and combat, or the fact that there are more new Infected enemy types in the game that haven’t yet been revealed.

This was followed at the end by nearly nine minutes of uncut gameplay footage from the game, showing a completely new, never-before-seen section of the game where we get to see many of its stealth and combat mechanics in action. You can take a look at the whole thing below.

The Last of Us Part 2 is releasing for the PS4 on June 19. Reviews for the game start going live a week before that, on June 12. Meanwhile, stay tuned for more details and updates on the game from Naughty Dog in the coming weeks.
