MORE OPEN ENDED LEVELS

The Last of Us Part 2_04

The Last of Us followed the Naughty Dog template of linear, handcrafted levels, with one leading into the next, then into the next, and soon. With every successive game the studio has made after that, however, it has experimented with more open-ended level design, with Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy both having larger and much less linear areas. The Last of Us Part 2 will be doing that as well. Though the game is still going to be a linear, guided experience, the entirety of it will be peppered every now and then with more open and larger areas that will allow players to explore and take on optional activities.
