The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a lot of resources, as anyone who played Breath of the Wild can attest. The amount of ingredients, plants, monster materials, minerals, food, and vegetables is overwhelming but also essential for different buffs, health recovery and more.

Here’s how to find and farm every resource in the game. While you could travel Hyrule and collect stuff as you go, there are some tips to make certain tasks easier.

First, take a picture of any vegetables or planets with your Purah Pad Camera. It’s added to the Hyrule Compendium, and you can then track it with the Purah Pad’s Sensor+. You can also open your map and place pins for specific locations, which is good when backtracking to enemies with rare materials you want to farm.

While fishing, keep some Yellow Chuchu Jelly handy. Some fish are easily scared and flee when you’re near. Throw in some Yellow Chuchu Jelly to electrocute the entire water body, allowing you to kill and collect them without trouble.

Note all the Stables in the world, where merchants like Beedle hang out since they sell various resources. Head here for all their locations.

Finally, if you’re short on Rupees and have excess rare materials like Diamonds, Rubies and Opals, sell them. You’ll get lots of cash in return (though maybe keep the Diamonds for fusing).

All Resources and How to Farm Them

Acorn

It’s one of the most basic materials and ingredients in the game. You can find it throughout the Hyrule Kingdom, usually near trees. It only restores 1/4 of a heart on its own and doesn’t provide many effects on cooking. However, it’s used in meals to increase the healing potency.

Ancient Arowana

Another ingredient, the Ancient Arowana, can be discovered if you scout the Great Sky Island’s water bodies. It’s also in the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago. Once again, while not necessarily useful alone, the Ancient Arowana can be cooked to get a Roasted Arowana, which recovers 1.5 hearts. It’s also combined with other ingredients to make dishes to heal more Hearts.

Apple

Next to the Acorn, the Apple is common. You can find it in Hyrule Field and Hyrule Ridge and consume it raw to recover 1/2 a heart. In the early going, when you don’t have many Heart Containers or suffer minor damage, it’s good for some quick healing. However, you’re better of dropping it near a fire to obtain Baked Apple, which can recover 3/4th of a heart.

Armored Carp

The Armored Carp is a fish in East Necluda and Lanayru Great Spring. They recover one Heart when eaten raw, but cooking them into a meal confers the buff, Defense Up. You can also buy them from The Coral Reef in Zora’s Domain for 40 Rupees. If cooked alone, you’ll get the Roasted Carp, which recovers 1.5 Hearts.

Armored Porgy

Armored Porgy spawns in the Necluda Sea and Lanayru Sea. You can also find them in the Highland Stable’s River and East Necluda in Cape Cales. Like the Armored Carp, the Armored Porgy will recover one Heart alone and provide the Defense Up buff when cooking into a meal. If you cook it without using anything else, you’ll obtain a Roasted Porgy, which recovers 1.5 Hearts and confers no Defense increase.

Big Hearty Radish

The bigger brother of the Hearty Radish, the appropriately named Big Hearty Radish, is found on Valor Island, Necluda Sky Archipelago, the North Necluda Sky Archipelago and Thunderhead Isles. Upon locating one, you can grow some more by completing the side quest “Teach Me a Lesson 2” in the Mount Lanayru region (though to learn about planting, you first need to complete the “Uma’s Garden” side quest).

While the Big Hearty Radish will recover four hearts when consumed, you’re better off saving it for cooking with meals. Not only can its meals fully recover your health, but they’ll also grant extra hearts, effectively increasing your maximum Heart Containers (which go away upon taking damage, so the effect is temporary).

Big Hearty Truffle

Located in East Necluda and Gerudo Desert in locations like the Gerudo Canyon Mine, Highland Stable Well and Robred Dropoff Cave, the Big Hearty Truffle serves the same purposes as the Big Hearty Radish. Cooking it into a dish will fully restore health and grant temporary Heart Containers (which disappear upon taking damage) while eating it alone recovers three Hearts.

Brightcap

With how big the Depths are in Tears of the Kingdom, having armor and food that can make it easier to traverse is important. Brightcaps spawn in Hyrule Caves, and while restoring only 1/4th of a Heart when eaten, cooking it into a meal will illuminate Link, making it easier to explore caves and the Depths.

Bright-Eyed Crab

Bright-Eyed Crabs are on the shores of the Lanayru Sea and Necluda Sea, but also in Zora’s Domain or when it’s raining. You’ll need to catch them, but thankfully, they’re not too quick. Eating them raw will only recover one Heart, but cooking them into a meal will recover Stamina, which is essential when gliding around or climbing.

Chillfin Trout

Located in Hebra Mountains and Lanayru Great Spring, the Chillfin Trout will recover one Heart when consumed raw. However, cooking it into a meal grants Heat Resistance, which is important when traversing the Gerudo Desert and Death Mountain. While you could chuck a Yellow Chuchu Jelly into the water body, the Chillfin Trout won’t be alerted immediately at your presence and doesn’t move fast, so you can collect them leisurely.

Chillshroom

Much like the Chillfin Trout, the Chillshroom will grant Heat Resistance when cooked with meals (while replenishing 1/2 a Heart when eaten normally). It’s in the Gerudo Highlands and Hebra Mountains.

Endura Carrot

Located in East Necluda and Hyrule Ridge, the Endura Carrot grants two Hearts when eaten raw. When cooked as a meal, it gives extra Stamina beyond your current limit, which is great for gliding, climbing and even combat. The additional Stamina will disappear when used, so keep that in mind.

Endura Shroom

As with the Endura Carrot, the Endura Shroom’s purpose is to increase your maximum Stamina when cooked in a meal. When cooked with a Mushroom ingredient or Hylian Tomato, you’ll gain even more temporary Stamina. It’s in North Necluda Sky Archipelago, South Hyrule Sky Archipelago and East Gerudo Sky Archipelago. You may also find them in caves and near large trees on the Sky Islands.

Fire Fruit

Fire Fruit is in Hyrule Field and Eldin Canyon, but also in specific Shrines like In-isa and Yamiyo to find them. If you visit the Tabantha Bridge Stable in Hyrule Ridge and meet Beedle, he’ll sell them for 12 Rupees. As one of the most useful materials in the game, Fire Fruit can be fused with arrows to create fire arrows which set targets ablaze, light torches, melt ice and more.

You can also throw it and fuse it with a weapon or shield to set enemies on fire when striking or being struck. If that wasn’t enough, it could also be cooked in a meal to increase damage dealt in Hot Weather. The only downside is that eating it raw only restores 1/4 of a Heart.

Fortified Pumpkin

Located in Hateno Village and Kakariko Village, the Fortified Pumpkin carries the same effect as the Armored Carp and Armored Porgy. It recovers 1/2 a Heart when eaten raw, but when cooked with a meal, it confers the Defense Up buff. If you cook the Fortified Pumpkin on its own and eat it, you’ll recover 3/4th of a Heart.

Fresh Milk

You can get it in Hateno Village, and it will recover 1/2 of a Heart. When cooked separately and consumed, it heals 1.5 Hearts. As a key ingredient in baking and cooking soups and stews, which confer various benefits, it’s best to use them in recipes instead of eating them separately.

Glowing Cave Fish

Found in the Hyrule Caves, but if you’re in Hyrule Ridge, look for Elma Knolls Well. There are significant numbers of Glowing Cave Fish here, making it a nice farming spot for them. It recovers one Heart when eaten raw, but cooking it in a meal will provide a glowing effect to Link, which is useful when navigating the darkness. If you cook it separately and eat it, it recovers 1.5 Hearts. When frozen and eaten, it provides Heat resistance and heals two Hearts.

Goat Butter

Found in Kakariko Village and Rito Village, Goat Butter doesn’t have an effect when cooked on its own or consumed. Instead, it adds 80 seconds to a meal’s buff. Of course, it’s a key ingredient in several meals, like Snail Chowder, which grants 5 minutes and 40 seconds of Stealth Up with five hearts recovered.

Golden Apple

You can find this in Hyrule Field and Hyrule Ridge near regular Apple trees. Because of this, going to an area populated with Apple Trees like the ones near Sonapan Shrine on Satori Mountain allows for finding them more easily. On its own, it recovers 1.5 Hearts, but when cooked in a meal, it can extend the duration of its effect by an additional 20 seconds. Cooking the Golden Apple on its own gives a Baked Golden Apple, which recovers 2.25 Hearts.

Hydromelon

The Gerudo Desert can be especially punishing due to its heat, so having food that grants Heat Resistance is important. The Hydromelon helps in that regard. It only restores 1/2 of a heart, but when cooked, it provides Heat Resistance. You can find it in the Gerudo Desert, which is convenient.

Hylian Shroom

One of the more common mushrooms is in Hylian Field and Hylian Ridge. When eaten, it restores half a Heart. No special effects when cooked, but it’s used in dishes like Skewers to recover more health.

Hylian Tomato

Found in East Necluda and West Necluda, the Hylian Tomato restores one full Heart upon consumption. It doesn’t offer special buffs when cooked but can be used in dishes to increase health recovery. Several are found near Batrea Lake in the forest on its northeast shore.

Hyrule Bass

You can find this in Hyrule Field and West Necluda, and it recovers one Heart upon eating it raw. When cooked, it doesn’t confer any effects but will heal 1.5 Hearts. Alternatively, freezing it grants Frozen Bass, which heals two Hearts and provides Heat resistance.

Ice Fruit

Found in the Gerudo Highlands and Hebra Mountains, Ice Fruit will recover only 1/4th of a Heart. However, when cooked, it raises your Attack in cold weather. If you travel to Valor Island in the sky and check the Mayanas Shrine, several are growing inside.

Courser Bee Honey

Located in Hyrule Field and East Necluda, the Courser Bee Honey recovers two Hearts and grants a Stamina Recovery buff when cooked in a meal. You may have to deal with angry bees when trying to collect it, so shoot the hive down from a distance and maybe aggro them onto nearby enemies. Otherwise, shoot it down, dash in, and flee as quickly as possible.

Dazzlefruit

The Dazzlefruit is in the Gerudo Highlands and Hyrule Field, but you can also gather lots of them in the South Hyrule Sky Archipelago. It doesn’t do anything when cooking into a meal and only grants 1/4 a Heart when eaten. However, when thrown, it can blind nearby enemies, giving you an opening in combat or some breathing room to escape. You can attach it to an arrow and quickly fire it into a crowd for a breather.

Ironshell Crab

The Ironshell Crab is found near the Necluda Sea and Faron Sea and can be caught without any sneaking or speed required. They recover one Heart when consumed, but cooking them confers Defense Up as a buff and recovers 1.5 Hearts.

Ironshroom

Located in East Necluda (near the Stinger Cliffs by Mount Rozudo and Mount Dunsel) and West Necluda, Ironshroom serves the same function as the Armored Bass, Armored Porgy and Fortified Pumpkin. When consumed, it only restores half a Heart. However, cooking it with a dish will grant Defense Up.

Korok Frond

Found throughout Hyrule Field and Lanayru Great Spring, you can attach the Korok Frond to a stick or sword and use it to fan strong gusts of wind. It can toss enemies off balance or be used to generate wind for anything with a sail. When consumed, it recovers 1/4th of a Heart and, unfortunately, doesn’t grant any benefits when cooked.

Mighty Bananas

The Yiga Clan love their bananas, and it’s easy to see why. Found in Lake Floria and Eventide Island, the Mighty Bananas will only recover half a Heart when eaten raw (3/4th of a Heart when roasted). Cook it into a meal to get Attack Up, increasing your damage output.

Mighty Carp

Like the Mighty Bananas, the Mighty Carp will grant Attack Up when cooked into a meal. They’re in Lanayru Great Spring and Akkala Highlands, but you may rarely spot them in other water bodies throughout Hyrule. They’ll become alerted quickly, so act fast when trying to catch them. Eating one raw recovers one Heart, but roasting it will increase that to 1.5 Hearts. When frozen, it heals one Heart and grants Heat resistance.

Mighty Porgy

Found in the Faron Sea and Necluda Sea, the Mighty Porgy is also spotted at Highland Stable if you use the well to access the underground river. They’re quickly alerted and fast, so be quick or toss a Yellow Chuchu Jelly to electrocute the whole batch. When eaten raw, it recovers one Heart. Cooking this into a dish grants Attack Up.

Palm Fruit

Found in East Necluda and Gerudo Desert (look for the palm trees), Palm Fruit recovers one Heart (1.75 Hearts when baked). However, you can recover more by cooking it into a dish. It doesn’t confer any special buffs otherwise.

Razorclaw Crab

Like the Ironshell Crab, you can do this on the Lanayru Sea and Necluda Sea shores. They’ll recover one Heart raw and 1.5 Hearts when roasted. Cooking them into a dish is the way since they confer the Attack Up buff.

Razorshroom

Found in Great Hyrule Forest and Tabantha Frontier (especially near the Tabantha Bridge Stable), Razorshrooms recover half a Heart when eaten raw, but cooking them into a dish grants Attack Up. Alternatively, combine it with some Goron Spice to make a Fragrant Mushroom Sauté for full health recovery.

Rushroom

As the name indicates, the Rushroom will increase your movement speed when cooked in a dish. It’s in the Gerudo Highlands and Tabantha Frontier. Eating it raw only recovers half a Heart, so save it for any recipes.

Sanke Carp

Found in Kakariko Village, the Sanke Carp is your typical fish. It recovers one Heart when eaten and 1.5 Hearts when roasted alone. You can also freeze it to gain Heat resistance and heal one Heart. Adding it to a dish doesn’t confer any buffs.

Shock Fruit

Like the other elemental fruits, Shock Fruit will grant you increased damage during specific conditions. When cooked into a dish, it raises your Attack during thunderstorms. It can also be fused with arrows to grant Shock damage to your shots or thrown for the same effect.

Fuse it with a weapon or shield that deals electric damage for a single attack or defense (though it can also electrocute Link, so make sure you have immunity). You can find it in East Necluda and Gerudo Desert, specifically south of Breman Peak near a lake. Eating it raw only recovers 1/4th of a Heart.

Silent Shroom

Stealth is underrated in Tears of the Kingdom, but if you don’t want to change armor pieces, get some Silent Shrooms. Found in Akkala Highlands and West Necluda (though several are also found at the bottom of Tanagar Canyon, just southeast of the Tabantha Hill), it recovers half a Heart when eaten raw and grants Stealth Up when cooked into a meal.

Hearty Bass

Hearty Bass is found in water bodies on the Sky Islands, specifically West Hebra Sky Archipelago and Tabantha Sky Archipelago. When eaten raw, it recovers two hearts, but when cooked on its own, it recovers three. Cooking it into a meal will temporarily increase your maximum Heart Containers by 1. You can freeze and eat it to heal two Hearts and get some Heat Resistance.

Hearty Radish

Like the Big Hearty Radish, the Hearty Radish will increase your maximum Heart containers when cooked into a meal (which can’t be recovered after taking damage). When consumed, it heals 2.5 Hearts. You can find the Hearty Radish in Lanayru Sky Archipelago and South Lanayru Sky Archipelago, but it’s also on Valor Island. They can also be grown in Uma’s Garden.

Hearty Salmon

Hearty Salmon is another ingredient which increases your maximum Hearts when cooked into a meal. It recovers four hearts when consumed raw and is in Hebra Mountains (particularly near Rospro Pass Skyview Tower), the Gerudo Highlands and Tabantha Frontier. You can also purchase them from The Coral Reef in Zora’s Domain.

Hearty Truffle

Like the Big Hearty Truffle, the Hearty Truffle will grant extra hearts to your maximum health when cooked into a meal. It’s in the Hyrule Caves, West Necluda and Hyrule Field, but you can also find it in the Royal Hidden Passage from Lookout Landing’s Emergency Shelter. When consumed, they’ll recover two Hearts.

Sizzlefin Trout

Found in Eldin Canyon and Hebra Mountains, Sizzlefin Trout is cooked with dishes to provide Cold resistance. They restore one Heart when eaten, but can get scared, so think fast when catching them.

Skyshroom

The Skyshroom is the equivalent of the Hylian Shroom, recovering half a Heart when eaten. It’s found on the Great Sky Island and Thunderhead Isles and can be cooked into meals to restore more health.

Sneaky River Snail

Perhaps one of the easiest creatures to catch since it doesn’t move or get spooked, the Sneaky River Snail is found in Hyrule Ridge and Zora’s Domain. It recovers one Heart when eaten, but cooking it into a dish will grant Stealth Up. You should be able to spot them by their telltale green shells.

Spicy Pepper

Located in Hyrule Field, Gerudo Desert and Great Sky Island (specifically in the southeast sections and Gutanbac Shrine, where you learn Ascend), Spicy Peppers will recover half a Heart when eaten. Cook it into a dish to obtain resistance against the Cold.

Splash Fruit

Splash Fruit is in Lanayru Great Spring, West Necluda and around Zora’s Domain (including Ihen-a Shrine). You can also purchase them for 10 Rupees from Beedle at the Wetland Stable near Tukarok Shrine in the Central Hyrule Region. It only restores 1/4th of a Heart, but when cooked into a meal, Splash Fruit will grant increased swim speed and is incredibly useful for conserving Stamina while swimming.

Cook five of them together for Rapid Simmered Fruit, which recovers 2.5 Hearts while increasing Swimming Speed. It can also be thrown or fused with arrows to clean off the muck in Zora’s Domain.

Stealthfin Trout

You can find the Stealthfin Trout in one place throughout Hyrule – Great Hyrule Forest. Not only are they fast, but they are easily alerted to your presence. When cooked into a meal, they’ll grant the Stealth Up buff.

Sun Pumpkin

Located in Hateno Village, the Sun Pumpkin will become one of your best friends when exploring the Depths. It only restores half a Heart, but when cooked into a dish, it can recover damage from the Gloom. Baking it alone will recover 3/4th of a Heart but won’t heal Gloom damage. For more health recovery, cook it with any meat for Meat-Stuffed Pumpkin.

Sunshroom

It recovers half a Heart when eaten alone, but the Sunshroom can grant Cold Resistance when cooked into a dish. You’ll find it in Eldin Canyon and the Gerudo Highlands.

Swift Carrot

Located in Kakariko Village and Hateno Village, the Swift Carrot recovers half a Heart when eaten. Cook it with a dish for the Speed Up buff.

Silent Princess

Like the Silent Shroom, Silent Princess will grant Stealth Up when cooked into a meal. However, eating them raw won’t recover any Hearts (which isn’t the worst thing, considering Silent Shroom’s low health recovery). You can find it in the Akkala Highlands and Hyrule Ridge.

Sundelion

Another ingredient that can aid in healing Gloom, Sundelion is available in Hyrule Field and Eldin Canyon. It doesn’t recover health alone, so you must cook it into a dish.

Swift Violet

Found in the Hebra Mountains and Tabantha Frontier. It doesn’t provide healing, but when cooked into a meal, the Swift Violet grants Speed Up.

Warm Safflina

Warm Safflina provides Cold Resistance when cooked into a meal and is found in Eldin Canyon and Gerudo Desert. On its own, it doesn’t provide any healing properties.

Black Bokoblin Horn

Black Bokoblins spawn in the Gerudo Desert and the Hyrule Ridge Depths. Defeating them will drop several materials, including the Black Bokoblin Horn. It grants 40 additional seconds to the duration of an Elixir, and when fused with a weapon, it adds 17 Attack Power.

Black Boss Bokoblin Horn

The Black Boss Bokoblin spawns in East Necluda and Hyrule Field and, much like the Black Bokoblin, grants various materials when defeated. The Black Boss Bokoblin Horn is the most noteworthy since it provides 40 additional seconds when creating an Elixir and a whopping 27 Attack Power when fused to a weapon, making it one of the best options in the game.

Black Hinox Horn

Staminoka Bass

Look in lakes and rivers in Hyrule Field and West Necluda for the Staminoka Bass, which grants Stamina Recovery when cooked into a meal (the Energizing Steam Fish, cooked with Hyrule Herbs, is recommended).
