PC players can now help test the mod editor for the PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt RED has announced. Players can download The Witcher 3 REDkit through Steam to try and make mods for the game that can range from something as simple as creating new items and weapons, to full-fledged quests and characters.

It is worth noting that The Witcher 3 REDkit is still under development, and in order to try it out, players will have to request access for the mod tools through its official Steam store page. Access to the playtest is being distributed in batches.

According to CD Projekt RED, The Witcher 3 REDkit is based on the same set of tools that were used by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s developers to make the game. The studio describes the toolset as a comprehensive one, stating that it should allow for “nearly limitless freedom” in modding the game.

The Witcher 3 REDkit was announced back in November last year, and is currently only planned for the PC version of the game. The modding tools are slated for full release in sometime 2024 for free.
