CD Projekt RED may be busy with Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel Project Orion, not to mention kickstarting a brand-new Witcher trilogy with Project Polaris, but it’s still adding to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The developer announced a mod editor is in development for the acclaimed open-world action RPG.
It will allow players to make “completely new” in-game experiences or edit “existing quests and content.” The plan is to release it in 2024 for free, with more details coming next year. Unfortunately, it’s for PC only and won’t launch on consoles.
Regardless, it sounds like a dream come true for fans, with potential new quests, new characters and even new bosses (if not stronger versions of the current ones). Changing the base game beyond what current mods can do may also be possible. Time will tell, though, so stay tuned for further details in 2024.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC. Check out our review of the Complete Edition on PS5, which adds 4K support, a new quest based on Netflix’s The Witcher and much more.
