#7. QUARIANS
Of course, you can’t talk about the geth without speaking of the quarians. They’ve been one of Mass Effect’s flagship alien races since the series’ inception, and they’re worth all the attention they got. When the quarians tried shutting the geth down after the latter became sentient, the AI race defended itself by starting a war against its former masters. The quarians lost and were driven out of Rannoch, their homeworld, and since them have been forced to live as galactic nomads, and that, combined with their weak immune systems, has also forced them to always keep on protective environmental suits and helmets, without which they would be easily exposed to deadly diseases and infections. Everybody’s favourite quarian Tali Zorah was one of the most important Mass Effect characters through the original trilogy, and following the race’s riveting story arc with her at the forefront was a truly engaging experience.
