7. God of War: Ascension

The God of War franchise just never lets up, does it? Nobody could have ever thought that Sony Santa Monica could ever be able to overcome the epic nature and the huge scope and scale of God of War III, but it looks like God of War: Ascension is going to be bigger, better and more badass than ever before, just like every successive God of War installment has been. The brutality on show in the video was stunning, even more in-your-face than what God of War III boasted of, and the new magic tricks, like having the ability to rewind time, looked like potential game changers (and probably will be). A lot of improvements are being made in Ascension, and we’re looking forward to it with great anticipation. March 2013 just can’t come soon enough.

6. Beyond: Two Souls

After 2010’s Heavy Rain, David Cage suddenly became a celebrity amongst Sony fans, and all PS owners have been eagerly anticipating his next release. He finally revealed his new game at Sony’s E3 presser, and it looks like it’s going to be well worth the wait. Called Beyond: Two Souls, the game seems to be focusing on the concept of life after death, and the protagonist, played by Ellen Page, is always accompanied by a “presence”. The demo and the trailer that were shown on the stage looked fantastic, with excellent cinematic presentation, great voice acting and motion capture and excellent visuals. It sure looks like Quantic Dreams is going to deliver once again.

5. Tomb Raider

Microsoft’s conference had many god awful moments, but it had some equally awesome ones as well. One of the best demos shown not only during MS’ presser but during the entire convention was for Crystal Dynamic’s upcoming Tomb Raider. Looking like a grittier, darker and much more mature version of Uncharted, Tomb Raider is seemingly going to mix elements of survival, combat, action, shooting, stealth and cinematic presentation into one perfect package. The single demo that was shown included everything from flaming arrows and burning people to falling down a waterfall and epic shootouts. It looked very epic, and we can’t wait to see more of the game in the near future.
