Hardcore fans hate what Bethesda has done to the franchise, but Fallout 3 is arguably the revival the series needed at the time. A shift to first-person did nothing to dull the ceaselessly brutal yet darkly humorous happenings of the wasteland. The numerous technical issues and iffy ending also couldn’t dull the role-playing elements and sheer decision-making, to say nothing of the companions.
