There are many potential Game of the Year contenders…and then there’s Celeste. Matt Makes Games’ excellent 2D platformer didn’t just provide a tough challenge with picture-perfect level design and mechanics. It weaved that difficulty into the story, pushing players along with Madeline to reach the summit of Mount Celeste. It can be frustrating but Celeste rewards patience and execution, providing an unforgettable experience in the process.
