Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly
The thing with Fatal Frame is how it leaves players feeling exposed. There’s nothing between you and folkloric phantoms but a magical camera, each capture dispelling ghouls that’re too close for comfort. The first game, if memory serves, was too scary for many a player, so developer Tecmo decided for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly to craft a narrative so compelling that players couldn’t help but complete it, even if through wincing eyes.
