The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Many times we talk about the scale of an open world adventure – how a game needs to feel “big” as compared to really being big. CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt appears to be going in both directions though. The world is several times larger than The Witcher 2: Wild Hunt, features branching paths and multiple endings, along with tons of side quests. The combat system has been revamped significantly, a second playable character may be accessible and the game is just flat-out gorgeous to look at. And if you’ve seen any of the gameplay footage thus know, you’ll know that there’s still so much more to the game to love.
What’s most notable about The Witcher 3 is that CD Projekt RED is devoting all its effort to ensuring the game runs great. There’s already been a delay into early 2015 and the developer delayed it again into May 2015 to iron out the remaining bugs. The very reason for those bugs is that the game turned out bigger than CD Projekt RED predicted. When was the last time a developer took out time to fix their game because it had too much awesome stuff in it?
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is easily one of the most anticipated games of next year and will serve as a primer for open world PS4 and Xbox One games in the future. Let’s just hope that CD Projekt RED can pull it off first.
