GlaDOS quotes Moby Dick
Being a super computer, GlaDOS would have a lot of knowledge about books, gadgets and other trivia; it is up to the player to really explore what she knows. When GlaDOS tries to help out Chell by providing instructions on how to solve a puzzle, her suggestions are not helpful, in fact the crazy AI provides these instructions at such a fast speed that no human could possibly hear what she’s saying. However if managed to slow down, the maniacal machine is quoting Moby Dick, more specifically the opening of the book; : “And methodically knocking people’s hats off – then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can.” Not very helpful information coming from GlaDOS.
