Fortnite:

Epic’s new, open world, sandbox zombie survival game combines a lot of our favorite mechanics from other games and loads them all into one entertaining, and in-depth experience. In this game, the player is expected to gather resources and equipment to build a durable, long lasting safe haven that can be defended from some very ugly, yet cartoonish looking zombies. The art direction for this game is quite refreshing, actually as well. With a bright and vibrant color pallet this game isn’t your typical zombie survival instance. While the zombies look like they dropped out of a lovely Pixar zombie movie about the misunderstood undead, the beasts still pack a punch.

Luckily, the crafting system is very fluid and quick to set up, repair or modify your structure to deal with the incoming waves of monsters. It also looks like the only time these creatures will be a big issue is at night, or in dark locations, freeing your days up to scavenge whatever it is that you need. The quick and easily accessible framing mode that allows you to build your structures and defenses gives players the freedom to build things the way they want without having to really worry struggle with the setup. This game does a good job of combining the construction bits from things like Minecraft, Terraria, and the classic tower defense, type of game with the free-roam and exploration of a survival game like DayZ. There’s a lot to look forward to if these game mechanics appeal to you, especially if you’re looking for a more light-hearted kind of survival title.
