Warframe Empyrean

Along with revealing a new intro cinematic to revamp the new player experience in Warframe, Digital Extremes had a bevy of trailers showcasing future new content that was inbound. The most important is Empyrean, formerly codenamed Railjack, which introduces spaceship combat to the game. It’s more than just simple dog-fighting though as players will hijack enemy ships, fend off boarding parties, and much more.

The most interesting thing – besides the fact that the demo is running on a new engine – is Squad Link. This allows players to call for assistance from other squads through the system depending on their objectives. So if your ship can’t get past a shield around an enemy capital ship, you might send an alert to players on that planet’s surface to destroy the shield base.

Empyrean is shaping up to be very interesting, even if wasn’t given a hard release date. Other new trailers include The New War, the next big story quest coming in Christmas which will see the system invaded by Sentient forces, and The Duviri Paradox, the next open world environment. The latter’s trailer indicates possible time travel and grown-up Operators. Stay tuned for more details – it’s going to be an interesting year for Warframe.
