Initially planned for the jam-packed September release window, KING Art Games’ Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 has been delayed to December 3rd. Commander Edition owners will now receive advanced access on November 30th, and the entire roadmap has shifted as a result.
In a new video, director Jan Theysen said the delay is for the sake of more polish. “The response to Dawn of War 4 has been amazing. You’ve watched our Faction Trailers, the Battlefield Reports, and thousands of you have played the game in multiple community playtests, sharing your feedback. All this helped a lot to shape the experience, and we’re very proud of what we accomplished so far.
“We know from your feedback that the game feels right, and we captured what makes Dawn of War so special. So why delay it? It’s because we need the extra weeks to get more of your feedback into the game, to fix bugs, improve performance, and polish the experience. We want to deliver a game that lives up to our ambitions and to your expectations. We want to make sure that every player has the best possible experience from day one.”
Of course, there will be more revealed in the coming weeks, including gameplay and deep dives, so nothing is changing in that regard. However, you can now expect Crusade Mode and Map Pack 1 to drop in early 2027. Lord Ahmok in Last Stand Crusade and Map Pack 2 will drop a little before Spring, while the first Story Prologue, Blood Ravens, arrives around the same period.
The Mission Editor and Map Pack 3 are slated for after, while Guzcutta in Last Stand Crusade, Map Pack 4 and the Aftermath campaign expansion are all slated for Summer 2027.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 will release exclusively on PC, and thus far, we’ve seen some impressive matches highlighting the different factions. Whether it’s the Space Marines and their technology, the Orks and their brutish tactics, or the Necrons, who prove a true wild card, the gameplay is certainly shaping up well.
