Following Epic Games’ impressive reveal of Unreal Engine 5 running on PS5, we’ve heard about how it will bring a “quantum leap” to experiences for next-gen consoles. Fortnite is already confirmed to be moving to the engine next year. However, it seems that inXile Entertainment, which is currently working on Wasteland 3, will also be utilizing the engine.
In a recent tweet, the developer confirmed that it’s next-gen role-playing will indeed be using Unreal Engine 5. Currently the focus is on finishing Wasteland 3 (which was delayed from May to August due to the COVID-19 pandemic). So while more details will be provided, fans will have to wait a while.
As for inXile’s unannounced title, not many details have been shared, save for the fact that Microsoft is quite keen on it. Expect it to be exclusive to Xbox Series X when it’s eventually revealed though. Thankfully, Wasteland 3 is still coming to PS4 along with Xbox One and PC. It’s out on August 28th and is currently over 50 hours long.
Thank you. We’re excited to share more, although it’ll be a while. Focusing on finishing Wasteland 3 and getting it into people’s hands on Aug. 28. We will indeed be using Unreal Engine 5 for our next project.
