Bluepoint Games have enjoyed a solid partnership with Sony of late. Their 2018 remake of Shadow of the Colossus was one of the best games of the year, and immediately after that game, they moved on to their next project- Demon’s Souls remake an as-yet unannounced game for the PS5, that Bluepoint claims “will become the achievement we’re most proud of.”

And if things go well, there’s a good chance that we’ll see Bluepoint and Sony extend their partnership even beyond that. Speaking recently with Segment Next, Bluepoint Games president Marco Thrush said that though they are an independent studio, they have a great working relationship with Sony, and they’d be glad to see it continue (if Sony feels the same way, of course).

“We are an independent studio,” he said. “The hardware we develop for is determined by the publisher who signs us. The MGS HD Collection and Titanfall had Xbox 360 SKUs for this reason. Various Sony studios have been great partners, most recently JAPAN Studio. We have a great relationship with them and we will be happy to continue to work with them if they wish to.”

As for what lies ahead in the imminent future with Bluepoint’s PS5 game, there’s no telling yet what it is going to be, but Bluepoint have said that it’s going to be another remake, and it’s going to be a far more ambitious re-envisioning than Shadow of the Colossus. Recently, they’ve been teasing some stuff- see if you can figure out what it is.
