Sony recently announced that the PlayStation 5 will be launching in Holiday 2020. That’s an official release window and name, as revealed in an exclusive story by Wired. While it’s still a while before any games will be revealed, Sony did confirm that PS5 devkits and controllers were with developers.

One such developer is Bluepoint Games, who worked on the Shadow of the Colossus remake for PS4. Regarding titles for the PS5, studio president Marco Thrush said, “We’re working on a big one right now.” No further information was provided. “I’ll let you figure out the rest,” said Thrush.

He added that the console’s solid state drive “has [him] really excited.” “You don’t need to do gameplay hacks anymore to artificially slow players down — lock them behind doors, anything like that. Back in the cartridge days, games used to load instantly; we’re kind of going back to what consoles used to be.”

Bluepoint has been teasing its next title, which is another remake, since March 2018. It later confirmed in April this year that the project was a “re-envisioning” that goes beyond the work done on Shadow of the Colossus. Could this be the coveted Demon’s Souls remake that fans have been clamouring for since forever? It’s hard to say, but perhaps more information will be revealed at the rumoured PlayStation Meeting in February 2020. Stay tuned until then.
