Chucklefish’s Witchbrook, in development for as long as we can remember, finally has a release date. Unfortunately, it’s been delayed past 2026 and will now launch on January 28th, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. On the bright side, some new gameplay teases what goes on at Witchbrook College.
If you’re wondering how long it’s been in the works, Witchbrook was first teased in 2016 and even had a different working title, Spellbound. It was officially revealed with its current title in 2018 and has seen several delays. With co-developer Robotality on board, Witchbrook seemed on track to launch in Winter 2025, but of course, further delays followed.
Even with those caveats, we have to say: The pixel art still looks as incredible as ever. As a social sim RPG, players, solo or with up to three others, can attend classes in various magical subjects, take on side jobs to pay tuition, interact and bond with classmates, experience seasonal events and more. You can also choose from extensive character customization options, right down to accessories.
Stay tuned for more details on Witchbrook in the months leading up to launch. Hopefully, that doesn’t include any more delays.
