Xbox Handheld: Can Microsoft exploit that area?

Posted By | On 20th, Sep. 2009

The last few weeks have been pretty big for the gaming industry, but as I stated in my previous articles that its the gamers like you and me that win every time. Sony announced the PS3 slim and Microsoft announced the price cut for its next gen console. But a area where both Sony and Nintendo have excelled is the handheld device. Sony with their announcement of PSP Go! and Nintendo with their ever strong DS ruling the roast for sometime now. The only big ring player missing from the handheld race is of course Microsoft. There have been so many rumors  for some time now. We at GamingBolt.com recollect those and tell you what can one expect from the Xbox Portable, if there will be one.

The Dream:

If there is going to be an Xbox handheld than I must start of with this. The Xbox Portable will be totally backwards compatible with the original Xbox library. That means all of your favourite classics like Halo 1 and 2, Fable and Forza can be enjoyed on the handheld. The games on the Xbox portable will be digitally distributed via the Xbox LIVE. Talking about the features: The Xbox Portable will more or less comparable with the PSP. Gamers can expect plug and play functionality and will include a plethora of functionalities like wireless Internet, usb connections, blue tooth and much much more. Also Expect a few features like Face book to make it over the portable. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has some very strong social networking features and those will definitely be carried over to the handheld. Also be sure about one thing, developers might think even more about a possibility of Natal and cross connection between Xbox handheld and Xbox 360. There will be a ton of great games coming out for the handheld. Just imagine how cool it will be if a Gears of War or a Halo game releases for it.

The Makeover:

Well these are some of the images that we found over at the Internet, that may be a good base for the Xbox handheld.

The Reality:

Sadly, there is no such Xbox handheld in development. But you never know. Judging how gaming gurus take decisions so rapidly and quickly we might see a Xbox : Handheld after all. What do you people think?
