Xbox Series X Is Coming Thanksgiving 2020 (Maybe)

UPDATE: It might have been a mistake.

UPDATE #2: Geoff Keighley recently took to Twitter and confirmed that according to sources, the intended release date for the Xbox Series X is still Holiday 2020, and there is no announcement regarding its release date from Microsoft’s side for now.

UPDATE #1: Microsoft have changed the date mentioned on the site back to Holiday 2020, but we took a screenshot of the earlier update, which you can view at the bottom of the report.

Original story follows:

Microsoft have provided a new, more specific release timeframe for the Xbox Series X. Originally slated for Holiday 2020, Microsoft have now narrowed down that window to Thanksgiving 2020. What’s curious is that Microsoft have provided this update with little to no fanfare.

This doesn’t come from a press release or a new video announcement. Rather, the new webpage Microsoft recently launched for the Xbox Series X holds this information. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and where it was previously displaying the Holiday 2020 launch window, it now says “Coming Thanksgiving 2020.”

Thanksgiving this year falls on November 26, but it’s unclear if Microsoft are referring to that day in particular, or are referring to that general week or weekend.

Though there have been quite a few concerns that manufacturing issues brought about by the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic might delay next-gen console releases, Microsoft have seemed confident that that will not be the case- and this move doubles down on that confidence.

The timing of this update is particularly curious (and quite an incisive move, to be honest), given all the updates Sony recently dropped about the PS5’s tech.

A ton of new detail were recently revealed about the Xbox Series X as well. Its complete specs list has been revealed (you can read our blow-by-blow analysis on that through here), as have been details on its new controller. Meanwhile, you can also head on over here to see images comparing its size to the Xbox One X.
