5. Gordon Freeman:

This Silent protagonist brought many gamers to the PC platform almost single handedly. As fun as the first Half-Life was, Doctor Freeman only garnered more fans with Half-Life 2 and the following Episodes. His story is far from finished but with no Half-Life 3 release in sight gamers are constantly on the lookout for any information regarding the third installment of the series. In a time of gaming where there are annual, recycled franchises whose lives have started and ended in the time between Half-Life 2 and the supposed Half-Life 3, Valve has made it clear that it’s going to take time.

Yet after all this waiting, and sometimes begging that we fans have done to get Valve to give us just nugget of information about the game and hearing nothing, we still wait patiently and optimistically for that fateful day of Half-Life 3’s announcement. Freeman will forever be in dedicated gamer’s hearts, as we wait for him to make another appearance sometime in the unknown feature.
