Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade
Behavior Interactive’s newest project has been in development for quite some time now. The MMO version of Games workshop’s famous tabletop series makes for a great idea as an online game. While the 40K franchise has been very successful with titles like Dawn of War and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, those were all published by THQ, who is now, and very unfortunately defunct.
The first Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning also didn’t fare so well on it’s release. A game that was plagued with balance issues for months after release and was considered to be too similar to WoW by most, but was also developed by a completely separate company, Mythic Entertainment. The Warhammer franchise has certainly seen a lot of different developers. Some have worked out while others have not.
Behavior Interactive may be the right place for this MMO, with rumors of it following a more co-operative, battle arena focus than the previous Warhammer MMO, this may be more of what the experience was missing. The game is in fact spawned from a wonderfully competitive tabletop game so a game focusing on competitive player vs. player combat may certainly be the route to go.
